West Sussex is the ideal destination for nature lovers, walkers, bikers and horseback riders in the British Isles. Here are some highlights you'll enjoy on three popular walking trails:
A Walk on the Isle of Wight -- For this walk, you'll need the Outdoor Leisure 29 map. This walk is approximately twelve miles long and is therefore best for cyclists, horseback riders or experienced walkers. On your walk you'll pass the Bembridge Lifeboat Station and Bembridge Harbour. Gorgeous views of Sandown Bay and the cool waterfront breezes are other advantages of this picturesque walk.
A Walk from Burpham to the Bluebells -- This fun five mile walk is relaxing and enjoyable for walkers of all skill levels. On this walk you'll get to travel through a gorgeous tree-lined path with the main attraction being the plentiful and fragrant bluebells. After departing from the bluebells you will travel through beautiful green meadows back to the starting point of the Arundel railway station area. The map necessary for this stunning walk is Landranger No. 197/1-50,000 or Explorer No. 121/1-25000 if you want a more detailed map.
A Walk through Parham Park -- This walk is another five mile walk, which means the average walker can complete it in two hours at a steady pace. You will need one of the two following maps: Landranger No. 197/1-50,000 or the more detailed Explorer No. 121/1-25,000. As you travel through the park, you just might come across some deer. Deer often gather beneath the trees or run in small groups. On this beautiful trail you'll also see the gorgeous park gardens and charming Parham house. There are lots more walks to be taken in West Sussex. No matter how far you want to walk or what area you want to explore, you'll find the ideal walking path in this breathtaking area!
