The Allure of Arundel Castle

Arundel Castle is the premier destination for travelers seeking beauty and culture. From March to October the castle and its gardens are open to the public. When you enter this magnificent structure, you'll get walk in the footsteps of more than 1,000 years of history. The very oldest part of the castle is an artificial mound called a motte, which was constructed in 1068 by the second husband of Adeliza of Louvain, the wife of Henry I.

To this day, the castle is still home to royalty. The Duke and Dutchess of Norfolk and their family are the current residents of this spectacular attraction. In addition to the priceless artifacts and architectural wonders of the castle, you'll also enjoy the gorgeous gardens. They weren't always beautiful and breathtaking, however.

The current residents gave new life to the gardens when they came to the castle in 1987. Today, the two acres of gardens are home an incredible collection of herbs, shrubs, trees, blooms and even a peach house and vinery. One of the most popular spots is the fountain which sits amidst a stunning collection of apple trees.

A full castle tour costs £12 per person or £10 per person in groups of 20 or more. For this price, you'll see the castle rooms, castle keep, fitzalan chapel, gardens, grounds, greenhouses, castle shop and castle restaurant. In the shop, you can purchase souvenirs such as Arundel Castle crystal glass, stationery, candles, dishes, books and more.

The restaurant offers delectable treats like pastries and cakes, light lunch options and a variety of hot and cold beverages. A tour of Arundel Castle is an educational and fun experience for individuals, couples, families and school groups. Although photography inside the castle is prohibited, you're sure to take away lots of memories and a few souvenirs from your trip to this incredible destination!
