Bognor Regis is a seaside resort town and civil parish in the Arun District of West Sussex, on the south coast of England. Bognor Regis was originally named just "Bognor", being a fishing (and one time, smuggling) village until the 18th century, when it was converted into a resort by Sir Richard Hotham. Bognor Regis is probably most well known for Butlins, which opened in 1960, fuelling the tourist industry for the town, costing £2.5 million and 3,000 weekly campers arrived to this the newest centre of the Butlin Empire.
The wide range of trades still provide services to the town as it did 100 years ago.
